I feel always incredeably lucky when I see a ship in the dockyard and can watch the worker doing their business.

    Werner

About me

The special light of the Nordic (urban) landscapes fascinates me again and again. They are permeated by atmospheric light and never rest.

My naturalistic paintings are the result of the combination of Plein Air painting in gouache, oil or pastel, directly on site and the work in the studio.

In contrast to the transparent watercolor, gouache is opaque. This characteristic ensures that the working process remains the same as in oil or pastel painting. That means I can put layers of paint on top of each other, light over darker colours. It opens up new dimensions and implementation possibilities for me.
