In Germany we have a French-German TV Channel called ARTE. Last year they had a TV series of shows in which French Chefs recreate food shown in famous paintings. Art historians and other experts comment on the circumstances when the picture was painted.
Why do I mention this? Well, I am always fascinated by all the creative people I have met and even though all my readers outside of Germany won’t be able to see the show there might be a very special treat for you.
5 years ago I met in France Meg Bortin. Meg is an American who lives in Paris. As a reporter she was based in London and Moscow and was for many years the Senior Editor of the International Harald Tribune. She is now an author and foodblogger. For the show about Norman Rockwells paining »Freedom of Want«, she was on the the experts team. If you’re interested in French cooking I highly recommend her food blog The Everyday French Chef.
She has also written an amusing article about the day the actual cooking and filming took place: Dinde à La Rockwell.
