Even though most of the trees have lost their foliage, there is still this wonderful reddish warm color in the air.

When I do this color studies, I don’t take any fotographs. I just stand there and take everythink in. Back in the studio I will bring my memories onto the paper, giving me a time limit of 15 minutes to finish the piece.

Hamburg Port

After weeks of grey weather the sun finally came out. We went to Hamburg (my hometown) to the harbor city. They are rebuilding the whole area and it’s such a beautiful place to be and sketch.
By accident we found a pub, where everything is inclined. And it’s kind of funny, that while you’re eating, you might glide straight to your neighbours lap. Originally, this was a coffeehouse for all the stevedores, who worked in the harbor. I definately need to come back to get a better sketch of this place.

I don’t know about you guys, but once in a while the computer is a real mystery to me and doesn’t work the way I want to. The other day I accidentaly wiped some emails and they were gone. (Of course, before I read them).

So here is a video by the english comedien Eddie Izzard on computers. Very funny, especially in the end. Watch, enjoy and laugh.

This week I just didn’t make it to paint outside, even though the weather was great. Not far away from where we live, there is this beautiful mixed forest. This is a plein air painting from last year.

Today, we had a visit from a TV team, who produces short video clips about artists for one of our big art supply stores in Germany. I was filmed at work, interviewed and they will put it all together to a nice and short film. Best of all, we will make it possible to the english viewers to follow. You just have to be a bit patient…
